In the last few years there have been avian bird flu out breaks. If that isn’t enough for people to realize that they need to kill pigeons that have gone feral then maybe looking at the different diseases caused by those birds might change the minds of the people. Just imagine pigeon poop, you don’t go near it cause its dirty right? You can not be possibly infected if you don’t touch it. Well that is where you are wrong. Dried up pigeon droppings host a very serious fungal infection, histoplasmosis. The dried droppings break up and the spores of the fungi fly into the air to be inhaled by anyone near. Another fungal infection is Cyptococcis and this time it is caused by direct contact to pigeon droppings. It might be easy to dodge ones on the street but with a flock of some 100 pigeons flying overhead, some will bound to hit you. Psittacosis is another bacterial infection that can transfer from pigeons to other birds and finally humans.
